Day 4 – Cotswolds Ride

What a fabulous finale to our Cotswolds riding adventure!

After breakfast we drove about 30 minutes, with a slight detour to our favourite coffee spot in Minchinhampton, before arriving at our starting point at the Edgeworth Polo Club. Tom and Katy were waiting at the horsebox with our trusty steeds ready to go. After a quick chat about the property and the day’s ride, we mounted up and headed off.

Today’s ride covered 16 km, with plenty of trotting and some long, exhilarating canters. We wound our way through beautiful woodland, crossed creeks, and enjoyed stunning countryside that seemed to go on forever.

Aili was an absolute star today, confidently leading the way at full speed on her beautiful Gracie. Deb and I have always been nervous trail riders, and if we’re honest, we started these rides on Friday feeling more than a little terrified! But over the past few days we’ve both pushed well beyond our comfort zones and have come away so much more confident than we ever imagined. Jan, of course, was her usual fearless self, happily popping over a couple of big logs along the way.

We would do this ride again in a heartbeat. It has been an incredible experience, filled with beautiful scenery, wonderful horses, great company and memories that we’ll treasure forever.

After lunch we headed to Giffords Circus for an unforgettable two-hour performance. High-wire artists, jugglers, tumblers and incredible acrobats kept us thoroughly entertained. It was such a unique and magical experience—unlike anything we’d seen before.

Now we’re back at The Orangery for our final night in the Cotswolds. Tomorrow we’ll visit some fellow Aussies before returning to London to begin the next chapter of our adventure.
